Indonesian Envoy Preaches Scholarship For Pakistani Students and Encourages to Avail Them

Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Adam M. Tugio has said that Indonesia is working to enhance its economic relationship with Pakistan, noting its geo-economics strategy and geographic location. He said on Sunday that there are enormous scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students in Indonesia because many universities offer full scholarships to Pakistani students.

The Indonesian ambassador made these remarks during an interactive session organized by the Center of Pakistan & International Relations (COPAIR) on “Pakistan Indonesia Relations: Present Status – Way Forward,” said a press release issued here by the Embassy on Wednesday.

He raised the importance of academic import/export while visiting a two-day International Education Summit 2023, on 4-5 March 2023 to promote the education system in Indonesia and provide access to information on scholarships being offered by universities in Indonesia.

The envoy showed pie charts of economic complexity indicating industries where Pakistan manufactures, have a substantial comparative advantage and export to fill the global market, and the corresponding market in Indonesia where Indonesia purchase them from many sources. 

He referred to Pakistani products such as medical equipment, leathers, garments, and textile that could become essential trade commodities in Indonesia and globally.

Ambassador Tugio said that the expo is also a good opportunity for the Embassy since it can introduce some best universities in Indonesia.

The event is organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce Industry (RCCI) with the objective to inspire Pakistani students with great educational prospects in Pakistan.

Ambassador Tugio commended the initiative of RCCI in organizing the first-ever educational expo and underscored the important role of the university. He encouraged the business community to play a proactive role by connecting innovations from university labs to the markets.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of RCCI, Saqib Rafiq reminded the audience that to have a strong economy, it is very important to first make Pakistan’s academia stronger. 

“Although we have brilliant students, they need to have proper guidance so that they could excel to their full potential”,

The Embassy’s stall attracted the interest of students from the twin cities who sought detailed information on educational systems in Indonesia and scholarships being offered by universities in Indonesia, including those from five of the world-class best Indonesian universities 

Based on the QS World Ranking 2023, namely Gajah Mada University (UGM), Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), University of Indonesia (UI), Airlangga University (UNAIR), and Bogor Agriculture University (IPB).

Representatives from the Embassy assisted students with free advising services that entail offering accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about opportunities to study at over 30 accredited Indonesian universities.

More than 30 stalls have been set up representing the best universities in Pakistan as well as some world-leading universities, colleges, and reputable education consultancies, including NUST, The Millennium Universal College, University of Management Technology, SI-UK, as students sought information to enroll in the top-ranked Pakistani and international universities.

The envoy also emphasized the importance of building people-to-people contacts between the nations and encouraged Pakistani students to avail of scholarships offered by the Indonesian government and various universities in Indonesia. He said there were a lot of untapped opportunities for Pakistan to contribute to the world market.
